Accessibility

The Chamber Music Society of Salt Lake City aims to provide a positive, accessible, and inclusive visitor experience. We invite you to contact us at cms@cmsofslc.org regarding accommodations—whether or not we’ve identified them below—and to discuss an arrival and seating plan that accommodates the specific needs of your party.

Arrival

  • Please try to arrive at least 30 minutes before the concert time; this will allow you ample time to park and make your way to the hall. Accessible parking is available directly east of Kingsbury Hall. There is a wheelchair-accessible path and ADA entrance on the east side of David Gardner Hall that enters directly into the Bruce W. Bastian Atrium. Turn left for the elevator.

  • Shuttle service is available for all Chamber Music Society performances at Libby Gardner Concert Hall. To assist patrons with transport between the Rice-Eccles Stadium parking lot and the concert hall, the shuttles are available starting at 6:30 p.m. (or 6:00 p.m. for performances with Pre-Concert Talks) Please note that golf carts cannot run during lightning or other dangerous weather. If the carts are not running, please request assistance from a parking attendant, and a staff member will escort you to the theater.

  • Drivers accompanying guests with accessibility needs may drop passengers off for performances in David Gardner Hall. The path from the drop-off point to the theater is shorter than from the ADA parking spaces and is wheelchair-accessible. The drop-off point is located in Presidents Circle directly in front of David Gardner Hall and Kingbury Hall, at the pull-off area. This area is staffed by parking attendants, who can assist with drop-off and request additional help from front-of-house staff to escort patrons into the lobby or theater while drivers park.

Seating

  • Wheelchair-accessible seating is available on the orchestra level for patrons in wheelchairs and their companions. There is an elevator to the 2nd floor of David Gardner Hall which from which patrons in wheelchairs can access the orchestra level seating.

  • The Weight/Hales Choral Rehearsal Room is situated on the north end of the 2nd floor within David Gardner Hall. Upon exiting the elevator from the 2nd floor, proceed into the Bruce W. Bastian Atrium. Turn left before reaching the entrance to the Libby Gardner Concert Hall. Continue to the end of the atrium and enter the adjacent hallway. Follow the hallway to its conclusion, where you will find the Weight/Hales Choral Rehearsal Room. While the room does not currently feature dedicated wheelchair-accessible seating, there is ample open space available for patrons using wheelchairs. This allows for comfortable participation in Pre-Concert Talks and other events.

  • Thompson Chamber Music Hall is positioned on the south end of the 2nd floor within David Gardner Hall. It is the first hall encountered upon entering from the main stairs entrance of the building on Presidents Circle. For guests exiting on the 2nd-floor elevator, turn left and then right. The entrance to Thompson Chamber Music Hall will be on your right. The room is equipped with chairs that are not fixed to the ground, providing flexibility to accommodate guests' needs. Chairs can be easily moved to ensure comfortable seating arrangements for all patrons.

Restrooms

  • All restrooms in David Gardner Hall are wheelchair accessible.

  • The University of Utah and the Chamber Music Society of Salt Lake City fully support guests of any gender identity or expression in using the restroom of their choice. However, please note that at this time, David Gardner Hall is not equipped with dedicated all-gender restrooms.
