David Gardner Hall

Our concerts, master classes, pre-concert talks, and membership meeting all take place in various performing venues within David P. Gardner Hall on the University of Utah campus. The hall is on the northeast corner of University St. (1340 East) and President’s Circle (between 1st & 2nd South).

Parking & Transportation

  • Please try to arrive at least 30 minutes before showtime; this will allow you ample time to park and make your way to the theater.

    Free Parking: Chamber Music Society patrons can park for free at the Rice-Eccles Stadium Parking Lot (451 South 1400 East) and the Northwest Parking Garage (105 South 1510 East). Parking is complimentary on CMS concert nights, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Guests are encouraged to take advantage of our complimentary shuttle service on concert nights, or make the short walk (2.5 blocks) along University Street to Presidents Circle.

    Metered Parking: Metered parking is available along Presidents Circle and 200 South, and enforced until 8:00 p.m. These spots tend to fill up fast, however, and should not be counted on if you arrive close to the concert start time.

  • Guests are encouraged to utilize our complimentary parking shuttle service, available at all Chamber Music Society concerts (excluding master classes and the annual membership meeting). Shuttles commence transporting patrons from Rice-Eccles Stadium to the concert hall at 6:30 p.m. (or 6:00 p.m. when Pre-Concert Talks are scheduled) and depart every ten minutes.

  • For guests seeking convenient and sustainable transportation options, Utah Transit Authority (UTA) offers multiple ways to access our concerts.

    TRAX (Light Rail): Patrons can easily reach the concert venue via the Red Line. Disembark at Stadium station, which is directly adjacent to the Rice-Eccles Stadium Parking Lot, located just 2 1/2 blocks south of David Gardner Hall. From there, guests are welcome to take advantage of the complimentary shuttle buses departing every ten minutes from the stadium parking lot. Alternatively, guests can enjoy a 10-15 minuse scenic walk along University Street from the station to Presidents Circle.

    Bus: UTA Route 2 (200 South) bus stops are conveniently located on University Street, to the west of David Gardner Hall, providing another accessible option for transportation to our concerts.

  • ADA parking is available directly east of Kingsbury Hall. Enter from Presidents Circle, and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.Accompanying drivers are encouraged to discharge their passengers at the drop-off point in front of David Gardner Hall for performances.

  • The University of Utah has provided charging stations for electric vehicles in the Northwest Parking Garage at 105 South 1510 East.

  • For guests arriving by bicycle, there are two bike racks available at David Gardner Hall. One rack is located in front of the main entrance with a capacity for six bicycles, while the second bike parking area is on the east side of the building with capacity for twelve bicycles. Please be advised that these are standard bike racks, and cyclists are expected to provide their own locks for securing their bicycles.
